Chapursan Valley is a remote and beautiful valley in Upper Hunza Northern Areas of Pakistan just west of Sost the last settlement along the Karakoram Highway before you reach China and the world´s highest border crossing at Khunjerab Pass 4733m.

Beyond Zood Khun in Chapursan Valley is the mystical and holy Baba Ghundi Ziarat a shrine to a Sufi saint said to have miraculous powers and a popular pilgrimage site.
The Baba Ghundi shrine is surrounded by lush green meadows which host herds of sheep in summer and sporadically from June to September the Kyrgyz traders from Afghanistan who traditionally cross the Irshad Pass with horses, yaks and sheep to trade with the Chapursan villagers.

The two days Baba Ghundi Festival celebrated every year in the Chipursan Upper Hunza Valley near the Pak-Afghan border.

The festival is held at the shrine of Baba Ghundi in Chapursan valley to pay homage to the Sufi saint for his pioneering role in the spread of Islam in the region.

A large number of people from Afghanistan’s Wakhan region near the border and tourists friom all around the worldcomes to attended the festival which is also credited with bringing together the Wakhi speaking people of the two countries.

People of Chipursan valley have ancestral cultural ties with the people of Wakhan.

Traditional games, like Buzkashi and the free style polo are among the main features of the festival. Wearing local costumes, musicians and dancers and singers perform on the occasion.
